The Government of Rajasthan, through its Social Justice and Empowerment Department, has initiated the “Ambedkar International Scholarship – SC” scheme to provide financial support to deserving Scheduled Caste (SC) students. This scheme specifically targets those aspiring to pursue Ph.D. programs abroad in the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Overview of the Scheme

The “Ambedkar International Scholarship – SC” program is designed to assist SC students in Rajasthan who have demonstrated academic excellence and wish to further their education through doctoral studies in foreign universities. The Rajasthan Residential Educational Institutions Society (RAJEDU) is responsible for implementing this initiative, which offers substantial financial aid to eligible candidates.

Key Benefits

Selected participants under this scholarship can expect the following financial assistance:

• Total Financial Support: ₹25,00,000/- distributed over three years.
• First-Year Installment: ₹10,00,000/-
• Second-Year Installment: ₹10,00,000/-
• Third-Year Installment: ₹5,00,000/-

Duration of Scholarship: The scholarship is valid for a maximum of three years, contingent upon the student’s academic progress.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Ambedkar International Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• The applicant must be a resident of Rajasthan.
• The applicant should belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category.
• A minimum of 55% marks in a postgraduate degree from a recognized Indian university is mandatory.
• The applicant must secure admission into a Ph.D. program at a foreign university recognized by the relevant national authority.
• The age of the applicant should be below 35 years as of the application submission deadline.
• The applicant’s family annual income should not exceed ₹6,00,000/-.
• The applicant must not be a beneficiary of any other government scholarship.
• The Ph.D. program should be in one of the following subjects:
  • Sociology
  • Public Administration
  • Law
  • Economics
  • Political Science
  • Anthropology

Application Procedure

Interested candidates can apply for the scholarship following these steps:

• Submit your application within one month of the advertisement published by the State Government.
• Include necessary documents validating your age, caste, annual income, and the proposed research topic for your Ph.D. program.
• An income certificate in the prescribed format from the State Government must accompany the application.
• The completed application form should be sent to:

• Each year, the student is required to submit progress reports and details of their research work to the concerned department for review.

Selection Process

After receiving the applications, a maximum of five candidates will be shortlisted and approved by the State-Level Approval Committee based on the completeness of their submissions.

Disbursement of Scholarship Funds

For successful candidates, the scholarship funds will be distributed as follows:

• Selected scholars must provide a certificate of admission from the educational institution where they are enrolled in the Ph.D. program, signed by the head of the institution.
• A certificate of attendance from the university or institution must also be submitted.
• Once the scholarship amount is approved, the funds will be disbursed either through a cheque or direct bank transfer by the Director & Special Secretary, Social Justice & Empowerment Department, Rajasthan, Jaipur.
• Additionally, the department will periodically receive academic progress reports from the respective universities or institutes for the selected Ph.D. candidates.
