The Ayurswasthya Yojana is a transformative initiative by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, focusing on enhancing the health outcomes of communities through AYUSH-based interventions. This scheme supports a range of healthcare services aimed at prevention, promotion, treatment, and rehabilitation, while also aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2 and 3.
Overview of the Scheme
The “AYUSH and Public Health” component under the Ayurswasthya Yojana is designed to encourage the integration of AYUSH systems into public health strategies. By funding various healthcare projects addressing community health challenges, this scheme seeks to bolster the overall health infrastructure across the country.
Financial Assistance
Organizations that qualify for this scheme can receive substantial financial support:
- A maximum grant of ₹1,50,00,000 is available for projects spanning a period of three years.
- Funds are disbursed in three installments: 40% at the beginning, another 40% mid-term, and the final 20% upon project completion.
It is essential to utilize the grant effectively, adhering to the following guidelines:
- No more than 30% of the total grant should be allocated for establishment or project management expenses.
- At least 50% of the total grant must be dedicated to medicines, laboratory testing, or other necessary investigations.
- The remaining 20% can be utilized for AYUSH awareness initiatives, minor equipment purchases, and related project costs.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this program, organizations must meet specific requirements:
- Possess demonstrated project management capabilities and a qualified core team.
- Organizations, excluding AYUSH teaching institutes registered under the IMCC Act of 1970 and the HCC Act of 1973, should have a minimum of five years of experience in community health initiatives.
- Proposals must include evidence of past program implementation and disclose any support received from State or Central agencies in the past five years.
- Applications from organizations (other than AYUSH teaching institutes recognized under IMCC Act, 1970 and HCC Act, 1973) must be submitted in the format specified in Annexure – C, accompanied by endorsements from relevant State Government officials detailing the organization’s credibility, project experience, and project relevance.
State Governments are required to forward proposals in the prescribed format within 60 days of submission. If no feedback is received, it will be assumed that the State Government has no objections, allowing the Ministry of AYUSH to proceed with the proposal assessment.
Eligible Organizations
The following types of organizations can apply for this funding:
- Directorates of Health/AYUSH in various States and Union Territories (UTs).
- Government institutions focused on public health initiatives.
- Non-profit and voluntary organizations with at least five years of experience in public health.
- Government-supported institutions, universities, research councils, and autonomous organizations involved in similar fields.
- Reputable organizations engaged in sports activities within India (specifically for AYUSH Sports medicine proposals).
- International organizations and collaborations with the United Nations are encouraged.
Exclusions
Organizations that have received funding from other Central Government Ministries or Departments for the same purpose within the last five years are not eligible for this scheme.
Application Process
Online Application
To apply online, follow these steps:
- Step 1: Navigate to the Ayush NGO Portal.
- Step 2: Complete the mandatory fields and upload all required documents.
- Step 3: Verify the captcha and click on “Register.” If needed, you can click “Cancel” to discard any changes.
Login Process
To log into the portal, do the following:
- Step 1: Visit the Ayush NGO Portal.
- Step 2: Input your registered email and password.
- Step 3: Enter the captcha and click on “Login.”

Offline Application
Organizations opting for offline applications must use the specified format (Annexure- A) and submit two copies of a detailed proposal to:

Eligibility Criteria
The applicant organization must have credible project management expertise and core staff.
Applicant / organization (Other than AYUSH teaching institute registered under IMCC Act, 1970
and HCC Act 1973
) should have track record of minimum 5 years of working in the field of community health. The organization should furnish the necessary evidence for implementing such programmes in the past.
Applicant / organization shall have to make information available regarding any assistance taken from any State/Central Agency in the last 5 years.
The organizations (other than the AYUSH teaching institutes recognized under IMCC Act, 1970
and HCC Act, 1973
and the Central/ State Govt. institutes) must submit their application in the Proforma given at Annexure – C, by the State Government officer of the respective State / UT concerned. Recommendations of the State / UT should clearly mention the following points:-
About the credibility of the organization and capability of applicant organization in
Implementing such public health initiatives project,
Past experience,
Relevance and usefulness of the project.
The State Government has to forward the proposal in the prescribed Proforma within 60 days of submission of the proposal by the applicant organization to the State. In case, no response is received from State Government, it shall be presumed that State Government has no specific comments against the applicant organization and Ministry of AYUSH will consider the proposal accordingly.
Eligible Organisation:
Directorates of Health/AYUSH of States / UTs.
Government Institutes dealing with public health.
Non-profit/Voluntary organizations working in the area of public health for at least five years and having a proven track record and a capable team comprising of public health specialists.
Government aided Institutions/ Undertaking/ Universities/ Research Councils, Autonomous Organizations and Non – Profit Non-Governmental organizations engaged in one or more of the above fields listed in the introduction to the scheme.
Any reputed organization or stakeholders dealing with sports activities in India (only for proposals on AYUSH Sports medicine).
Collaboration of United Nations and International Organizations will be encouraged.
Benefits
Financial Assistance:

Note: The grant received under the scheme should be utilized as under:-
Not more than 30% of the total grant should be spent on Establishment / Project Management.
