The scheme aims to conserve rainwater in fields to help farmers, ensuring water availability during irrigation and drought conditions. Farmers receive subsidies up to ₹1,00,000/- for pond construction.

About This Scheme

The scheme “Balram Talab Yojana” was launched by the Farmer Welfare and Agricultural Development Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh. The scheme aims to support agriculture activities on a sustainable basis by conservation of rainwater in the field, enriching surface and groundwater availability. Only those farmers who have installed drip or sprinkler sets in financial year 2017-18 or thereafter and currently in operational condition will be granted approval for subsidized pond construction.

Benefits

General category farmers receive 40% of the construction cost or maximum ₹80,000/- as subsidy.

Small and marginal farmers receive 50% of the construction cost or maximum ₹80,000/- as subsidy.

Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe category farmers receive 75% of the construction cost or maximum ₹1,00,000/- as subsidy.

Disbursement

The subsidy will be disbursed to the beneficiary based on the progress of pond construction.

The subsidy will be provided within 30 days based on the evaluation by the Soil Conservation Staff.

Conditions

All conditions and eligibility must be verified by the Soil Conservation Survey Officer before subsidy benefits are provided.

Before providing the benefit under this scheme, verification of the land will be conducted by the Conservation Survey Officer.

From a security perspective, it is mandatory to install a board at the pond site to prevent drowning incidents. This must be installed at the farmer’s own expense. In the absence of a board, if any accident occurs, the farmer will be solely responsible.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must be a permanent resident of Madhya Pradesh.

The applicant must possess agricultural land.

The applicant must have installed drip or sprinkler sets in financial year 2017-18 or thereafter, and these must be currently in operational condition, to be eligible for subsidized pond construction.
