Initiated on 16th October 2022, the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) represents a significant initiative by the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Government of Nagaland. This public health insurance scheme aims to provide cashless medical treatment for eligible individuals, covering up to ₹20 lakhs for government employees and pensioners, and ₹5 lakhs for the general public.

Beneficiaries can access the scheme in empanelled hospitals throughout India, ensuring comprehensive healthcare coverage. The scheme encompasses inpatient treatments and select daycare procedures, with applications being processed through various healthcare facilities such as Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs), District and Sub-division Treasury Offices, outreach camps, and designated private hospitals. The implementation of this scheme is overseen by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland.

Annual Risk Coverage/Sum Insured

For government employees, any expenses exceeding the insured amount may be reimbursed on a case-by-case basis, contingent upon the recommendations of the State Medical Board.

Eligibility Requirements

The Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme is available to all permanent and indigenous residents of Nagaland, categorized as follows:

• For CMHIS (EP):
  • The applicant must be a government employee, pensioner, or a dependent family member.
  • Necessary documents include the PIMS Code, PPO book, Aadhaar card, and certificates for dependents.
• For CMHIS (GC):
  • The applicant should be an Indigenous Inhabitant or Permanent Resident of Nagaland not covered under AB PM-JAY.
  • Required documentation includes an Indigenous Inhabitant Certificate (IIC) or Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued post-2016, along with an Aadhaar card and a valid mobile number.

• Step 5: The CSC or empanelled hospital will verify your application and documents, uploading your information to the online portal.
• Step 6: The insurance provider will review your application and either approve or reject it based on eligibility criteria.
