About the Educational Loan Scheme
Implemented by the Gujarat Backward Classes Development Corporation (GBCDC) under the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, this scheme is designed to support students from socially and educationally backward backgrounds in their pursuit of higher education. Loans under this scheme are available at concessional interest rates for students enrolled in approved professional and technical courses such as engineering, medical studies, MBA, and MCA.
Key Benefits of the Scheme
- Maximum Loan Amount: Up to ₹15,00,000/-.
- Interest Rate:
- 4% per annum for male students.
- 3.5% per annum for female students.
- Loan Contribution:
- 90% from the National Corporation.
- 5% from the State Government.
- 5% from the beneficiary.
- Loan Coverage: The loan amount includes:
- Admission and tuition fees.
- Accommodation and food expenses.
- Repayment Terms: The loan must be repaid in 60 equal monthly installments, including interest. Repayment begins within 6 months of course completion or 1 month post securing employment, whichever comes first.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Educational Loan Scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- The applicant should be a resident of Gujarat.
- Applicants must belong to a socially and educationally backward class.
- The total annual family income should not surpass ₹3,00,000/-.
- Students should have gained admission through a recognized entrance examination conducted by the Central or State Government or through a selection process, achieving a minimum of 50% marks in Class 12 or the qualifying exam.
- Admission must be secured in a recognized institution for courses such as:
- MBA or its equivalent (AICTE recognized).
- Master of Computer Applications (MCA) or its equivalent (AICTE recognized).
- Graduate-level engineering courses from IITs or other recognized institutions (AICTE recognized).
- Medical or allied education like Ayurvedic, Homeopathy, Unani, etc., from institutions recognized by the Medical Council of India.
- Diploma course in Hospitality Management recognized by the National Council of Hotel Management.
Note: Preference will be given to candidates whose family income is up to ₹1,50,000/- per annum.
Application Process
The application process for the Educational Loan Scheme can be completed online. Follow these steps:
- Visit the Official Website: Go to the Gujarat Backward Classes Development Corporation’s official website.
- Navigate to Apply Online: Click on the “Apply Online” option in the top menu.
- New User Registration: If you are a new user, select “New Registration,” fill in your personal details such as name, mobile number, email, Aadhaar number, and create a password. Complete the OTP verification.
- Login: Use your registered credentials (User ID and password) to log in.
- New Application: Click on “New Application” and select “Educational Loan Scheme” from the available options.
- Complete the Application Form: Provide the necessary information:
- Personal Information: Name, gender, date of birth, caste, etc.
- Address Information: Permanent and correspondence address.
- Income Details: Monthly family income and source of income.
- Loan Requirement: Specify the amount required and its intended use (e.g., for education, self-employment).
- Bank Account Details: Provide details for loan disbursement.
- Document Upload: Upload scanned copies of required documents, including the Caste certificate, Income certificate, Aadhaar card, recent passport-size photograph, Bank passbook (first page), and proof of residence.
- Review and Submit: Carefully verify all details, click “Preview” to check, and if everything is accurate, click “Submit.”
- Application ID: Upon submission, you will receive an Application ID/Reference Number. Be sure to save or print the acknowledgment for future reference.

Benefits

Step 2: On the top menu bar, click on "Apply Online".
Step 3: If you’re a new user, click on "New Registration" Enter personal details (name, mobile number, email, aadhaar number, etc.), create a password, and complete OTP verification.
Step 4: Use your registered credentials (User ID and password) to log in.
Step 5: Click on “New Application”. Select “Educational Loan Scheme” from the list of available schemes.
Step 6: Fill out the Application Form, enter the following details:
Personal Information: Name, gender, date of birth, caste, etc.
Address Information: Permanent and correspondence address
Income Details: Monthly family income and source
Loan Requirement: Amount needed, proposed use (e.g., business, self-employment)
Bank Account Details: For loan disbursement
Step 7: Upload scanned copies of the Caste certificate, Income certificate, Aadhaar card, Passport-size photo, Bank passbook (first page), and Residence proof.
Step 8: Double-check all details. Click on “Preview” to verify. If all details are correct, click “Submit”.
