Financial Assistance Scheme for Outboard Motor Purchase in Goa

The Government of Goa, through the Department of Fisheries, has launched a beneficial initiative titled “Financial Assistance to Purchase Outboard Motor of 2HP to 5 HP for Fitting to the Fishing Canoe” (मछली पकड़ने के कनो के लिए 2HP से 5 HP आउटबोर्ड मोटर खरीदने के लिए वित्तीय सहायता). This scheme aims to provide financial support to traditional fishermen for acquiring outboard motors, thereby enhancing their fishing operations.

Overview of the Scheme

This scheme is designed to assist fishermen by offering a subsidy for the purchase of an outboard motor with a power range of 2HP to 5HP. The eligible motors are intended for installation on fishing canoes that are less than 26 feet in length. It is important to note that applications for this scheme are exclusively accepted in offline mode.

Key Benefits

• For General Category: A subsidy of 50%, capped at ₹30,000, is available on a total unit cost of ₹60,000 (excluding GST).
• For SC/ST/Woman Category: A subsidy of 60%, limited to ₹36,000, can be availed on a unit cost of ₹60,000 (excluding GST).

Important Notes:

• Financial assistance is restricted to a single outboard motor for each eligible fishing canoe that is under 26 feet.
• Beneficiaries may take advantage of this scheme once every five years.

Eligibility Requirements

• The applicant must be a traditional fisherman by either birth or profession.
• Residency in Goa is mandatory for applicants.
• The fishing canoe owned by the applicant must be registered with the Department of Captain of Ports, Government of Goa.

Application Procedure

To apply for the scheme, follow these steps:

• Step 1: Obtain the prescribed application form from the Department of Fisheries by paying a nominal fee of ₹50.
• Step 2: Complete the application form by filling in all necessary fields, affix a passport-sized photograph (signed if required), and attach copies of all mandatory documents (self-attested if necessary).
• Step 3: Submit the completed application form along with all required documents to the relevant authority at the Department of Fisheries located at Dayanand Bandodkar Marg, Patto Colony, Panaji Goa – 403 521, or to designated officials at the BDO Office/Sub-Offices of the Department of Fisheries.

Grievance Redressal Mechanism

In case of any issues or dissatisfaction with the services provided, complaints can be lodged with the Grievance Redressal Officer of the Department. Grievances can also be submitted via email at dir-fish.goa@nic.in. All grievances will be acknowledged, and a resolution will be communicated to the complainant within a span of 30 days.
