Free Blood to Patients – Uttarakhand
The scheme aims to ensure the availability of blood free of cost to all patients admitted in government hospitals across the state. Under this scheme, blood is provided free of cost by government blood banks to all in-patients who require transfusion during treatment.
About This Scheme
The scheme “Free Blood to Patients” is an initiative under the National Health Mission (NHM) implemented by the Department of Medical Health and Family Welfare, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to ensure the availability of blood free of cost to all patients admitted in government hospitals across the state.

All patients admitted to government hospitals in Uttarakhand who require blood are eligible.

In case of a blood requirement, patients admitted to government hospitals are provided blood free of cost by government blood banks. The free blood facility is available in a total of 23 medical units across the state, namely:
1. District Hospital, Almora, 2. Sub-District Hospital, Ranikhet 3. District Hospital, Bageshwar 4. District Hospital, Chamoli, 5. District Hospital, Champawat, 6. Doon Hospital, 7. Government Medical College, Dehradun, 8. Sub-District Hospital, Rishikesh, 9. District Hospital, Haridwar, 10. Sub-District Hospital, Roorkee, 11. District Hospital, Nainital, 12. Base Hospital, Haldwani, 13. Sushila Tiwari Government Medical College, Haldwani, 14. District Hospital, Pauri, 15. Base Hospital, Kotdwar, 16. Government Medical College, Srinagar, 17.
