The scheme aims to provide financial assistance for expensive medical treatments to Scheduled Tribe individuals. Through this scheme, monetary aid is provided to Scheduled Tribe individuals suffering from various diseases and for serious maternity cases and anaemia in women.

About This Scheme

The scheme “Free Medical Assistance” by the Tribal Development Department, Government of Gujarat, aims to provide financial assistance for expensive medical treatments to people of Scheduled Tribes. Through this scheme, monetary aid is provided to Scheduled Tribe individuals suffering from diseases like tuberculosis, cancer, leprosy, HIV/AIDS, sickle cell anaemia, and thalassemia, as well as for serious maternity cases and anaemia in women.

Benefits

Financial assistance is provided to Scheduled Tribe individuals for medical treatment. The revised rates, effective from April 1, 2024, are as follows:

Mode of Disbursement: The financial assistance will be disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). For HIV/AIDS patients, the payment will be made by cheque.

Frequency of Disbursement: Monthly until the patient recovers from tuberculosis, cancer, leprosy, AIDS, sickle cell anaemia, and thalassemia. Per case for serious maternity cases and anaemia in women.

Validity: The assistance is provided until the patient recovers from specified diseases.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant should belong to Gujarat.

The applicant should belong to a Scheduled Tribe.

The applicant’s family income must be less than or equal to ₹6,00,000/-.

For HIV/AIDS patients, the annual income limit is ₹27,000/- for rural areas and ₹35,000/- for urban areas.

Application Process

Apply Offline

Step 1: The interested applicant should visit the Office of the

Chief District Health Officer

, and request the hard copy of the prescribed format of the application form from the staff.

Step 2: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields, and attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attest, if required).

Step 3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents, within the prescribed period (if any), to the

Chief District Health Officer.
