The “Prawn Seed Stocking” initiative is part of the broader scheme titled “To Increase Fish Seed Production and Inland Fisheries Resources in Tribal Areas.” Launched by the Government of Gujarat’s Agriculture, Farmers Welfare, and Co-operation Department, this scheme is designed to improve fish production by cultivating fish in reservoirs and generating employment opportunities for individuals engaged in inland fisheries.

About the Scheme

The primary goal of the “Prawn Seed Stocking” scheme is to enhance fish farming within reservoirs, thereby creating job opportunities for Scheduled Tribe fishermen. This initiative ensures that those who lease reservoirs receive comprehensive financial assistance, covering both the costs of prawn seeds and transportation.

Objectives

  • To elevate fish production levels by cultivating fish in reservoirs.
  • To promote aquaculture in freshwater bodies and assist fishing activities.
  • To increase fish yields through reservoir fishing, pond aquaculture, and river catchments.
  • To create sustainable employment for Scheduled Tribe fishermen throughout Gujarat.

Benefits

Participants of this scheme, particularly those from Scheduled Tribes who lease reservoirs, are entitled to:

  • Receive 100% financial aid covering the complete costs associated with prawn seed procurement and transport.
  • Engage in a minimum one-year period for claiming the benefits from the date of availing them.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the benefits under this initiative, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Individuals, societies, self-help groups, associations, reservoir monopolies, or private entities involved in inland fisheries.
  • Must belong to the Scheduled Tribes.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess an active bank account.
  • Provide proof of identity through an Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Ration Card, or Passport.

Application Process

To apply for the Prawn Seed Stocking scheme, follow the steps outlined below:

Online Registration Steps

  1. Visit the I-Khedut Portal to begin your application.
  2. Select ‘Login’ located in the top right corner, and then click on “Beneficiary Registration.” Choose from ‘Farmer’, ‘Institutional’, or ‘Except For the Farmer’ based on your beneficiary type.
  3. If opting for ‘Institutional’ or ‘Except For the Farmer’, provide the ‘Company Name’ and Address. All applicants should specify their District, Taluka, and Village, select their account holder type, and input their Account Number and Name. Complete the Captcha verification, then click ‘Save and Next’.
  4. Input your Mobile Number and Email address, then click ‘Send OTP’. Enter the OTP received, create and confirm a Password, complete the Captcha, and click ‘Submit’.

Login Process

  1. Access the I-Khedut Portal.
  2. Click on ‘Login’ on the homepage. Navigate to ‘Schemes’ and select ‘Agricultural Schemes’.
  3. Choose the relevant scheme, then click the ‘Apply’ button to open the application page.
  4. Hit the “Apply New” button to submit a fresh application.
  5. If corrections are needed, use the “Update Application” button.
  6. Once completed, confirm your application.
  7. Print the confirmed application for your records.

Benefits

100% financial assistance is given to Scheduled Tribe beneficiaries who are lessees of reservoirs, covering the total cost of prawn seed as well as transportation costs.
Minimum Time Limit for Reclaiming Benefits: 1 year from the date of availing benefit.

And for all select the District, Taluka, and Village, choose 'what type of account holder you are?', enter your Account Number and Name, solve the Captcha, and click 'Save and Next'.
Step 4: Enter your Mobile Number and E-mail address, click 'Send OTP', enter the received OTP, create and confirm a Password, solve the Captcha, and click 'Submit'.

Step 2: Click on 'Login' from the top right-hand side of the homepage. On the home page, click on ‘Schemes’ and then click on ‘Agricultural Schemes’.
Step 3: Now select the scheme, click on the ‘Apply’ button, and an application page will open.
Step 4: Click on the "Apply New" button and submit a new application.
Step 5: Click on the "Update Application" button to add corrections to the application.
Step 6: Once the application is done, confirm it.
Step 7: Take a printout of the confirmed application.
