Internship Scheme of the Ministry of Labour & Employment
The Internship Scheme initiated by the Ministry of Labour & Employment aims to provide valuable work experience to eligible students. This initiative not only allows interns to understand the workings of the government but also engages them in significant policy discussions and legislative formulation within the Government of India.
About the Internship Scheme
This scheme serves as a platform for students to become engaged as interns within the Ministry, fostering mutual benefits. Interns will gain insights into government operations and will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of policies by creating substantial policy inputs such as empirical analyses, briefing reports, and policy papers.
Duration of Internship
The internship lasts between two to six months, with various starting dates throughout the year.
Declaration of Secrecy
Before commencing their internships, all interns must submit a declaration of secrecy to the Ministry of Labour & Employment.
Intern Placement
A maximum of five interns will be placed based on the approval of the Secretary (Labour & Employment). This placement will consider the interns’ qualifications and the specific needs of the relevant Wing or Division.
Benefits of the Internship
- Stipend: Interns will receive a monthly stipend of ₹ 8,000, contingent upon certification from the supervising officer.
- Logistic Support: The Ministry will provide necessary resources, including a workspace, computer, internet access, and any other essentials deemed appropriate by the heads of divisions.
- Certificate of Internship: Upon successful completion of the internship and submission of a report or paper, interns will be awarded a certificate, subject to evaluation by the concerned authorities.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

<liCurrently pursuing a law degree (in the last two years of the program) or a law graduate.
- Students engaged in postgraduate law studies or research scholars in law.
- Individuals pursuing MBA, MSW, MSc, or MA at a recognized university or institution, either in India or abroad.

The Interns will be paid a stipend @ ₹ 8,000/- per month for the period of internship on certification from the Officer, which the Intern is attached to.

Certificates will be issued to the interns on satisfactory completion of their internship and on submission of their Report/Paper and its evaluation by the concerned.
