Under this scheme, a government-approved license is issued to repairers of weights and measuring instruments, enabling them to repair such instruments used by traders as a means of self-employment and to ensure their livelihood.

About This Scheme

The scheme “License for Repairers of Weights-Measures and Weighing Instruments” was launched by the Department of legal metrology, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to promote self-employment opportunities by enabling skilled individuals to legally engage in the repair and maintenance of weights and measuring instruments used in trade.

Benefits

For self-employment, traders can obtain licenses for weights, measures, and weighing instruments by paying the repair tax, repair fee, and prescribed government charges to ensure their livelihood.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must be a resident of Uttarakhand.

The applicant must possess one of the following qualifications:

ITI (Electronics) or its equivalent along with 2 years of relevant experience; or

Diploma in Electronics, Instrumentation, or Electrical Engineering with 1 year of relevant experience; or

B.Sc. degree with Physics and 1 year of relevant experience; or

B.E./B.Tech degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Instrumentation Engineering.

Applicants can apply online through

Select FCS Legal Metrology (Department of Legal Metrology) on the portal.

Choose the required service and fill out the application form. Provide details such as Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Address Proof of premises, Ownership Proof of premises (e.g., Electricity Bill, Lease Deed, or Registry Copy), Educational Qualification, and Experience Certificate. Upload the certificates and other applicable documents as mentioned on the portal. Submit the form to the Inspector after paying the prescribed online fee of ₹100/-.

After inspection, as per the time scheduled by the Inspector, the online license will be issued by the concerned authority.
