Overview of the Scheme

The Gujarat Labour Welfare Board, under the Labour, Skill Development & Employment Department of the Government of Gujarat, has launched the Maternity Assistance Scheme. This scheme is specifically targeted at supporting female workers and the spouses of workers to alleviate financial burdens associated with maternity. The financial aid aims to ensure that women have access to necessary healthcare during this critical time.

Key Benefits

Eligible beneficiaries can receive financial assistance of ₹10,000. This amount is intended to help cover the following expenses during the maternity period:

• Health check-ups
• Medicines
• Nutritious diet

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the benefits of the Maternity Assistance Scheme, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Must be a female worker or the wife of a worker employed in the organized sector in Gujarat.
• Should have been employed continuously for at least one year with the Factory/Company/Organization.
• Labour Welfare Fund contributions must be deposited with the board.
• Applications must be submitted within one year from the date of delivery.
• Only one delivery benefit is available either for the female worker or her spouse.

Important Note: Assistance will be denied if there is a discrepancy between the name on the birth certificate and the name registered in the bank passbook of the pregnant woman.

Application Process

To apply for the benefits under this scheme, follow these steps:

Online Application Steps:

1. Visit the Sanman Portal.
2. On the homepage, click on ‘Citizen Login’ and then select ‘Please Register Here’.
3. Provide your Aadhaar Card Number, choose the user type, and enter your Labour Welfare Fund Account Number.
4. Click on ‘Fetch’ to validate the details entered.
5. Fill in your user details along with a password.
6. After successful registration, log in using your User ID and Password.
7. Select the Maternity Assistance Scheme and carefully read the instructions related to it.
8. Complete the application form and upload the necessary documents.
9. Accept the Rules & Regulations and submit your application. You will receive a confirmation email containing your application number.

Important Notes:

• Incomplete or incorrect applications will not be processed.
• The final decision regarding the assistance will rest with the Welfare Commissioner, located in Ahmedabad.
