Madhyamik Drop-out Coaching

The scheme aims to provide intensive coaching to Madhyamik dropout students and prepare them for the Madhyamik Examination. Through this scheme, coaching, honorarium for teaching staff, and stipends for candidates are provided to Madhyamik failed Scheduled Tribe (ST) students.

About This Scheme

The scheme formerly known as “Special Coaching of Madhyamik failed ST students,” and now effective from August 1, 2011, as “Madhyamik Drop-out Coaching,” by the Tribal Welfare Department, Government of Tripura, aims to provide intensive coaching to Madhyamik dropout students and prepare them to appear in the Madhyamik Examination. Through this scheme, coaching, honorarium for teaching staff, and stipends for candidates are provided to the Madhyamik failed Scheduled Tribe (ST) students. The scheme is implemented by the District Magistrate & Collectors/Sub-Divisional Magistrates and registered & reputed voluntary organisations (NGOs).

Benefits

Coaching Classes: Intensive coaching for Madhyamik failed Scheduled Tribe (ST) students to prepare them for the Madhyamik Examination.

Duration: Coaching commences from August 1st to February 28th (7 months) in an academic year.

Class Duration: Each class for a particular subject is 45 minutes daily.

Daily Classes: A minimum of 5 classes are conducted every day.

Monthly Classes: A minimum of 20 coaching classes should be conducted for each subject per month.

Honorarium for Teaching Staff:

Teaching Staff: Each teaching staff is paid ₹3,000/- per month for 7 months.

Centre In-Charge: The In-Charge of the centre is entitled to an honorarium of ₹2,500 per month for organising coaching classes and looking after students, including food, boarding, and lodging arrangements.

Class 4 Staff: Honorarium is paid to Class 4 staff at ₹1,000/- per month.

Cook: The cook of the centre is paid ₹1,000/- per month.

Stipend to Candidates:

Hostellers: Stipend is provided to each dropout candidate staying in the hostel at ₹31/- per day per hosteller during the coaching period.

Day Scholars: Day scholars of a coaching centre are paid a stipend as admissible for students staying in the hostel.

Eligibility Criteria

Criteria for Registered & Reputed Voluntary Organizations (NGOs):

The NGO should have 50% and above performance (student pass%) and experience of at least 3 (three) years duration along with audit reports for running a Madhyamik Dropout Coaching Center.

The NGO should be recognized by the Registrar of Co-operation Department, Government of Tripura.

The NGO should have hostel and infrastructure facilities.

Only one NGO may open one centre in a Sub-Division, and no second centre of the same NGO will be allowed to conduct coaching in the same Sub-Division.

The Tribal Welfare Department reserves the right to cancel the center on violation of the guidelines of the Madhyamik dropout scheme by the NGO/Society.

Criteria for Students Selection:

The applicant must be a Madhyamik failed Scheduled Tribe (ST) student.

The minimum number of ST candidates shall be enrolled is 40 students.

The maximum number of ST candidates shall be enrolled is 50 students in each centre for coaching.

Preference/Priority/Reservation/Relaxation:

The candidate from the interior Tribal Areas / BPL shall get preference in admission at such a coaching centre.

Application Process

Apply Offline

The applicant can prepare an application with the required documents, including performance and audit reports. Submit to the nearest Sub-Divisional Level Boarding House Committee. The Committee will verify through Tribal Welfare field officers and recommend to the District Magistrate & Collector. The DM & Collector forwards it to the Directorate of Tribal Welfare, Government of Tripura, for approval and fund placement.

Notes:

NGOs should have 50% or above performance (student pass%) and experience of at least 3 (three) years duration, along with audit reports for the running of Madhyamik Dropout Coaching Centre.

NGO should be recognised by the Registrar of the Co-operation Department, Government of Tripura.

The proposal of the NGO should be sent to the Tribal Welfare Directorate through the concerned District Magistrate & Collector, duly recommended by the Sub-Divisional Level Boarding House Committee within the month of June for approval of the Tribal Welfare Department, Government of Tripura.

Registered and reputed NGOs having hostel and infrastructure facilities shall apply to the District Magistrate & Collectors, who will forward the application to the Director, Tribal Welfare, along with an inquiry report/recommendation for approval and placement of the fund.

Government agencies may also apply to the District Magistrate & Collector, and the application shall have to be processed in the same manner.
