The Government of Kerala has introduced the “Matru Jyothi – Financial Assistance for PwD Mothers” scheme through the Department of Social Justice. This initiative aims to provide crucial financial support to mothers with disabilities who are raising children with disabilities. With a focus on aiding these mothers in nurturing their infants, the scheme ensures that they receive assistance during the critical early years of their child’s life.
Overview of the Scheme
The “Matru Jyothi” scheme offers a monthly financial aid of ₹2,000 to mothers with disabilities, aligned with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act of 2016. This financial support continues until the child reaches the age of two, assisting in the necessary care and provision of basic amenities for the child. The scheme is formalized under G.O.(Rt)No.268-2020-SJD dated 23-06-2020.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the “Matru Jyothi” scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- The applicant must be a resident of Kerala.
- The applicant should be a mother with a recognized disability.
- Only mothers with children under the age of two are eligible to apply.
- The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed ₹1,00,000.

Application Process
Applicants can apply for the “Matru Jyothi” scheme through two methods: online and offline.
Online Application Procedure
- Visit the SUNEETHI- Online Service Application Portal.
- Click on “One time Registration” on the homepage.
- Provide your Name, Email ID, and Mobile Number, then click ‘Register’.
- Enter the verification code sent to your mobile and click ‘Verify’.
- Complete the form to create a new profile and click ‘Register’.
Login/Application Steps
- After registration, return to the SUNEETHI portal and select “Citizen Login”.
- Enter your Mobile Number as the username and your password to sign in.
- Update your personal, contact, identity card, and bank details by clicking ‘Edit’.
- Once your profile is updated, select the scheme from the left menu and click “Apply Now”.
- Fill in the application form with all necessary details and click ‘Submit’.
Offline Application Procedure
- Contact the nearest Anganwadi Centre to obtain the application form or download it from the Social Justice Department website.
- Fill in the application form completely.
- Submit the completed application form along with required documents to the nearest Anganwadi Centre.

Registration Process:
Step 01: To avail of the benefits of the scheme, the applicant needs to visit SUNEETHI- Online Service Application Portal
Step 02: On the home page, click on “One time Registration”
Step 03: Fill in the details like Name, Email ID & Mobile Number and click on ‘Register’.
Step 04: The applicant needs to enter the verification code received on the mobile number and click on ‘Verify’.
Step 05: Now, a form will open to create the new profile, fill in all the mandatory details and click on ‘Register’.
Login/Application Process:
Step 01: Once the registration process is completed, the applicant should visit SUNEETHI- Online Service Application Portal
and click on “Citizen Login”.
Step 02: Enter the user name i.e. Mobile Number and Password and click on “Sign in”.
Step 03: Now, the applicant needs to update all their details i.e. Personal Information, Contact Details, Identity Cards & Bank Details by clicking on the 'Edit' button.
Step 04: Once the applicant updated their profile successfully, the schemes will appear on the left side of the screen.
Step 05: Select the scheme and click on the “Apply Now” button.
Step 06: Fill in all the mandatory details in the application form and click on the ‘Submit’ button.
