The Makhana Vikas Yojana is an initiative by the Government of Bihar aimed at enhancing Makhana cultivation through farmer training and financial assistance for traditional farming tools. This scheme is particularly focused on promoting sustainable agricultural practices in the state.

Overview of the Scheme

Launched by the Department of Agriculture, Bihar, the Makhana Vikas Yojana is specifically crafted to increase both the yield and the overall productivity of Makhana in ten selected districts of Bihar. The initiative emphasizes providing essential training to farmers along with financial grants for purchasing traditional equipment that is crucial for Makhana farming and processing.

The scheme will be operational in the following ten districts: Katihar, Purnia, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Kishanganj, Supaul, Araria, Madhepura, Saharsa, and Khagaria.

Key Benefits

  • Training Programs: Farmers will receive hands-on workshops and training sessions aimed at adopting contemporary farming techniques to boost productivity.
  • Equipment Grants: The scheme offers financial support covering 75% of the cost for traditional farming tools, with a maximum limit of ₹16,575. These tools include Auka, Ganj, Kara, Khainchi, Chalni, Chatai, Afra, and Thaapi which are essential for Makhana cultivation.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a registered farmer.
  • Must reside in one of the following districts in Bihar: Katihar, Purnia, Madhubani, Kishanganj, Supaul, Araria, Madhepura, Saharsa, Darbhanga, or Khagaria.
  • The farmer should possess a minimum of 0.25 acres (0.1 hectares) and a maximum of 10 acres (4 hectares) of agricultural land.
  • It is mandatory for the applicant to register on the DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) portal.

Note:

  • Women participation is encouraged, with a minimum allocation of 30% for female farmers.
  • Ryot farmers can avail benefits based on land documents, while non-ryot farmers can apply using a contract form.
  • Selection of beneficiaries will follow a first-come, first-served basis.

Application Process

Registration on DBT Portal

  1. Visit the DBT registration page.
  2. Select your preferred Aadhaar verification method: OTP, BIO-AUTH, or IRIS.
  3. Input your Aadhaar number along with your name as per the Aadhaar card. Click on “Authentication”.
  4. Enter the OTP received and click on “Validate OTP”.
  5. Confirm the details of your Kisan Credit Card (KCC) and click on “Farmer Registration”.
  6. Fill in all required information on the registration page, including farmer details, land information, and bank account details, then click “Submit”.
  7. Validate with OTP and click “Register” to generate your Registration ID.

Important: After 48 hours of successful registration, farmers can apply for the scheme using their 13-digit registration number.

Online Application for the Scheme

  1. Access the official website of the scheme.
  2. Scroll down and check the confirmation box, then click on “Proceed to apply”.
  3. Select your type of applicant and enter your DBT registration number for Kisan. Click on “Get details”.
  4. Complete the required fields, including address and land details, and upload the necessary documents.
  5. Confirm the checkbox and click “Submit”.
  6. An application number will be generated; keep this for future reference.
  7. You can print a copy of your filled application using the print option available.

DBT Registration Process:
Step 1: Visit the registration page
of the DBT portal.
Step 2: Select Aadhaar verification type: OTP/ BIO-AUTH/ IRIS.
Step 3: Enter your Aadhaar number and Name as per Aadhaar. Click on “Authentication”.
Step 4: Enter the OTP. Click on “Validate OTP”.
Step 5: Now confirm the details about the “Kisan Credit Card (KCC)” Details. Click on “Farmer Registration”.
Step 6: In the Registration Page, fill in all the details properly i.e. Farmer details, Land information, Bank account details and click on “Submit”.
Step 7: Validate with OTP. Click on “Register” to generate the Registration Id.

Step 3: In the next page select the “Type of Applicant” and enter the “DBT Registration Number of Kisan”. Click on “Get details”.
Step 4: Fill in the required details i.e. Address, Land Details, etc, and upload documents.
Step 5: Confirm the checkbox and then click on “Submit”.
Step 6: An “Application Number” will be generated. Keep this for future reference.
Step 7: Printout of the filled in application also can be taken using the Print option.
