The Government of Madhya Pradesh has initiated the “Running of Scheduled Caste Hostels” scheme under the Tribal Welfare and Scheduled Caste (SC) Department. This program is designed to ensure that students from Scheduled Castes have access to safe housing and a supportive educational atmosphere. The scheme accommodates separate hostels for junior, senior, and college students, catering to both boys and girls, thereby promoting their academic pursuits.

The focus of the “Running of Scheduled Caste Hostels” scheme is to facilitate a conducive living and learning environment for Scheduled Caste students in Madhya Pradesh. With dedicated facilities for junior, senior, and college students, this initiative provides free accommodation and meals, thereby significantly easing the financial burden on students and their families.

Eligibility Criteria

• The applicant must be a student.
• The applicant should belong to the Scheduled Caste category.
• The applicant must be a resident of Madhya Pradesh.
• The applicant should be enrolled in an accredited educational institution.
• Importantly, there is no income ceiling for admission into senior hostels.

Application Process

The application for the scheme must be submitted offline. Below are the steps to follow:

Step-by-Step Application

1. Obtain the Application Form: Collect the form from the Divisional District Office or the designated hostel.
2. Complete the Application: Fill in all required information and attach necessary documents (self-attested where applicable).
3. Submit the Application: Deliver the completed application to the relevant hostel within the deadline set by the District President. Ensure that the application is forwarded by the Head of the Institution before submission.

Verification and Approval

1. The Divisional District Officer will assess the application along with the supporting documents.
2. Once approved, admissions will be granted based on the capacity of the hostel and adherence to eligibility criteria.

Important Timeline

It is crucial for applicants to submit their applications within one month from the designated admission date announced by schools.
