Scheme for Awards to MSMEs (सूक्ष्म, लघु और मध्यम उद्यमों के लिए पुरस्कार योजना)

The Government of Gujarat has launched the “Scheme for Awards to MSMEs” as part of the Industrial Policy 2020, designed to honor Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) for their exceptional contributions in areas such as production, quality enhancement, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit. This initiative aims to boost the morale of these enterprises and encourage further growth and development in the state.

About the Scheme

The “Scheme for Awards to MSMEs” was established by the Industries and Mines Department of Gujarat under the Gujarat Industrial Policy. The primary objective of this scheme is to acknowledge and reward the achievements of MSMEs in various domains including production efficiency, quality improvements, innovative product development, and overall entrepreneurship. The scheme will be in effect from August 7, 2020, to August 6, 2025.

Benefits of the Scheme

• Distinct Awards for Different Categories: Three awards will be allocated for each category—Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises.
• Growth in production and profitability
• Improvements in quality and environmental measures
• Innovations in technology related to new product or process development
• Award Money: Each winner will receive ₹2,00,000, a trophy, and an appreciation letter.
• Awards for Exceptional MSE Entrepreneurs: One award will be presented in each of the following categories:
• Woman Entrepreneur
• Young Entrepreneur (first generation and under 35 years of age)
• Scheduled Caste (SC) Entrepreneur
• Scheduled Tribe (ST) Entrepreneur
• Award Money: Winners will also receive ₹2,00,000, a trophy, and an appreciation letter.
• Awards for Best MSME Start-up: Recognizing commercially successful start-ups in the MSME sector.
• Award Money: Each winner will be awarded ₹2,00,000, a trophy, and an appreciation letter.

Eligibility Criteria

• Enterprises must have been in continuous production for the past three years.
• They are required to possess valid statutory clearances and licenses applicable to their operations.

Note: An MSME or start-up can receive only one award in each category during the operational period of the scheme.

Application Process

Apply Offline

• Step 1: The MSME Commissionerate will invite applications through local newspaper advertisements.
• Step 2: Enterprises must complete and submit the prescribed application form along with all necessary documents.
• Step 3: A working committee will evaluate and rank the applications received.
• Step 4: The State Level Empowered Committee (SLEC) will select the award recipients based on the evaluations.
• Step 5: The MSME Commissionerate will publish the final list of awarded enterprises.

Understanding MSMEs

An MSME is defined as an enterprise that fulfills the criteria outlined in the MSME Development Act, 2006, and any subsequent amendments by the Government of India. Additionally, it must possess an acknowledgment of “Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum” or “Udyam Registration.”
