Overview of the Scheme
Launched by the Department of Social and Tribal Welfare in the Union Territory of Ladakh, the State Marriage Assistance Scheme aims to empower women by offering a financial aid of ₹50,000 to female beneficiaries who belong to Antodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) or Priority Household (PHH) ration cardholder families. Moreover, individuals classified as Divyangjan will receive a higher amount of ₹1,00,000. Applications for this assistance can be submitted through the District or Tehsil Social Welfare Officer in both Leh and Kargil.

Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must belong to families holding Antodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) or Priority Household (PHH) ration cards.
- Both the bride and groom should be permanent residents of Ladakh.
- The bride must be at least 18 years old.
- The groom must be at least 21 years old.
- This marriage should be the first for both the bride and groom.
- Divyangjan applicants must have disabilities as defined in “The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.”
Application Process
The application for the State Marriage Assistance Scheme must be completed offline. Follow these steps to apply:
- Step 1: Visit the District Social Welfare office during working hours and request a hard copy of the application form from the designated staff responsible for handling applications. Alternatively, applicants can download and print the application form from the official website.
- Step 2: Fill out all mandatory fields in the application form, affix a passport-sized photograph (signed across if necessary), and attach self-attested copies of all required documents.
- Step 3: Submit the completed application form, along with the necessary documents, to the District Social Welfare Officer, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, or Social Worker within the Department at either Leh or Kargil.
- Step 4: After submission, request a receipt or acknowledgment from the officer to whom the application was submitted. Ensure the receipt includes vital details such as the date and time of submission and a unique identification number, if applicable.

Benefits

Application Process
Apply Offline
Step 1: The interested applicant should visit (during office hours) the office of the District Social Welfare and request the hard copy of the prescribed format of the application form from the staff exclusively entrusted to issue and collect filled-in applications.

of the application form.
Step 2: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields, paste the passport-sized photograph (signed across, if required), and attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attest, if required).
Step 3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents to the District Social Welfare Officer/ Tehsil Social Welfare Officer/Social Worker of the Department at Leh/Kargil
Step 4: Request a receipt or acknowledgment from the District Social Welfare Officer/ Tehsil Social Welfare Officer/Social Worker of the Department at Leh/Kargil to whom the application has been submitted. Ensure that the receipt contains essential details such as the date and time of submission, and a unique identification number (if applicable).
