Goa’s Solar Power Subsidy Scheme

Initiated in 2018, the Solar Power Subsidy Scheme aims to bolster the solar energy sector within the state of Goa. Managed by the Department of Information Technology, this initiative is part of Goa’s broader Information Technology Policy, which seeks to position the region as a leading hub for IT investments and infrastructure. By providing financial assistance to eligible Information Technology Units, the scheme fosters sustainable energy practices and encourages businesses to adopt renewable energy solutions.

Scheme Overview

The primary goal of the Solar Power Subsidy Scheme is to offer financial support in the form of a subsidy for the installation of solar power generation units. This initiative is designed for both new and existing IT units operating within Goa. The scheme is aligned with the state’s vision of creating a favorable environment for IT enterprises, enhancing Goa’s appeal as an investment destination for technological advancements and expansion.

Benefits of the Scheme

Under this scheme, all units that operate on 100% solar energy are eligible for a subsidy that covers:

  • Reimbursement Rate: 10% of the capital expenditure related to the installation of solar power generation units.
  • Maximum Subsidy: Up to ₹50,00,000.

Important Notes:

  • The availability of benefits depends on budgetary allocations; thus, no claims can be made if funds are exhausted.
  • Rebates are limited to expenditures incurred during the policy’s operational period.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the subsidy, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • All new and existing units must have active operations in Goa.
  • The applicant must be categorized as one of the following:
    • Proprietorship Firm
    • Private Limited Company registered under the Companies Act, 2013 (or equivalent)
    • Public Limited Company registered under the Companies Act, 2013 (or equivalent)
    • Registered Partnership Firm under the Indian Partnership Act, 1932 (or equivalent)
    • Limited Liability Partnership as per the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008 (or equivalent)
  • The unit must be registered with the Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA) for solar power production.
  • The bank accounts associated with the unit and/or its partners/directors must be linked to Aadhaar.

Exclusions

Units that are already benefiting from the Power Subsidy under the existing policy will not be eligible for this scheme’s benefits.

Application Procedure

To apply for the Solar Power Subsidy Scheme, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Official Portal: Access the Goa Online portal and click on “Register” located at the top right corner.
  2. Verify Your Details: Confirm your Email ID and Mobile Number through an OTP. This will redirect you to the Registration Page.
  3. Complete the Registration Form: Fill in all required fields, create a Login Name and a strong Password. Read the Declaration and Terms & Conditions carefully, check the boxes, enter the Captcha Code, and click “Register/Signup”.
  4. Log In: Use your Login Name and Password to access the website. Enter the Captcha Code and click “Login”.
  5. Application Form: Click on “Services” in the top ribbon, then select “IT Services”. Choose the scheme name to access the application form. Fill out all mandatory fields and upload the necessary documents.
  6. Submit Your Application: After completing the form, submit your application. A unique registration number will be generated, which should be noted for future reference.

Note: Applications can be made quarterly, bi-annually, or annually after the relevant expenditure is incurred.

Benefits

All Units operating in Goa running on 100% solar energy will be eligible for a reimbursement of 10% of their capital cost of the installation of Solar Power Generation Unit subject to a maximum subsidy of ₹ 50,00,000.
NOTE 1: The benefits under this scheme are subject to budgetary allocation. No Promissory Estoppel shall be applicable if benefits are discontinued in case the allocation is exceeded.
NOTE 2: Only expenditure incurred during the operation of the Policy will be eligible for the rebate.

Application Process

Step 2: On the next page, verify your Email ID and Mobile Number using OTP. You will be redirected to the Registration Page.
Step 3: On the Registration Page, fill in all the mandatory fields of the registration form. Create a Login Name and a strong Password. Carefully read the Declaration and the Terms & Conditions, and tick the checkboxes. Fill in the Captcha Code, and click "Register/Signup".
Step 4: Login to the website using your Login Name and Password. Fill in the Captcha Code, and click "Login".
Step 5: In the top ribbon, click on "Services", then click on "IT Services
". Click on the name of the scheme. You will be taken to the application form for the scheme. Fill in all the mandatory fields and upload all the mandatory documents.
Step 6: Submit the application. A unique registration number will be generated. Note this number for future reference.
NOTE: The applicant can apply for this scheme on a quarterly/bi-annually/annual basis after incurring the relevant expenditure.
