Introduction

The “Scheme for Subsidy on Interest for Establishment of 1 to 20 Milch Animal Farm (1 से 20 दूध उत्पादन पशु फार्म की स्थापना हेतु ब्याज पर सब्सिडी योजना)” is an initiative initiated by the Department of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare & Co-operation, Government of Gujarat. This program aims to support eligible farmers and cattle breeders in Gujarat by facilitating the purchase of milch animals and providing interest subsidies on bank loans. The scheme is designed to enhance dairy farming practices and improve the livelihoods of rural communities.

About the Scheme

Under the “Scheme for Subsidy on Interest for Establishment of 1 to 20 Milch Animal Farm,” farmers in Gujarat are empowered to acquire between 1 to 20 dairy animals, depending on their requirements and capacity for maintenance. Eligible beneficiaries can receive an interest subsidy of 12% on the amount borrowed from nationalized banks or financial institutions sanctioned by the Reserve Bank of India. This subsidy is applicable for a duration of five years, provided the loan is availed in the current financial year 2023-24.

This scheme not only aids in livestock acquisition but also contributes to organic farming by offering quality manure, which enhances soil fertility and crop yields. Additionally, animal waste can serve as fuel for domestic use, while surplus fodder can be utilized for livestock, leading to the production of valuable dairy products such as milk and meat.

Benefits

• The beneficiary can acquire 1 to 20 milch animals (cows and buffaloes) at a subsidized rate, based on their needs and maintenance capacity.
• An interest subsidy of up to 12% is available for a maximum of five years, calculated on the unit cost of the animals or the loan amount provided by the bank, whichever is lower.

Note: Interest subvention will be credited directly to the beneficiary’s loan account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in multiple installments. Cash assistance will not be provided to beneficiaries.

Note: The interest payable will be calculated as per the actual interest charged, not exceeding 12%, based on the cost of the animals or the interest paid to the bank, whichever is less.

Eligibility Criteria

• The applicant must be a permanent resident of Gujarat.
• Only one family member is eligible to be a beneficiary of this scheme.
• All farmers residing in Gujarat are entitled to the benefits of this scheme.
• The applicant must secure a loan for establishing the farm during the financial year 2023-24 from a nationalized bank or a Reserve Bank of India-approved financial institution.

Note: The land for the farm must be owned by the family member or the beneficiary of the scheme.

Note: The subsidy granted under this scheme is strictly for the intended purpose and will be disbursed annually.

Note: Establishing the livestock unit (cattle) requires certification from the Animal Husbandry Authority.

Application Process

Online Application Steps

1. The applicant must visit the I-Khedut Portal: I-Khedut Portal.
2. Click on the “Apply New” button to initiate a new application.
3. If corrections are needed, use the “Update Application” button.
4. Upload all necessary documents by clicking on the “Upload Document” button.
5. Confirm the application within seven days of saving it online.
6. Print the application after confirmation and submit it, along with supporting documents, to the designated office address indicated on the application.

Note: The application will be processed only if the correct and complete documents are uploaded and signed or fingerprinted by the beneficiary.

Note: Incomplete or incorrect documents will lead to rejection, and the applicant must rectify this by submitting the required documents within seven days of application.

Note: Uploaded scanned documents in PDF format must not exceed 200 KB in size.
