The Government of Tamil Nadu has initiated the “Team Production Award” scheme under the Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles, & Khadi Department. This initiative aims to recognize and reward artisan groups who collaboratively create outstanding handicraft items. Annually, this award is conferred upon three selected teams, accompanied by incentives such as cash prizes, gold medals, and certificates.

About the Scheme

The “Team Production Award” honors teams of artisans who work together to produce unique handicraft items. Each year, three groups will be recognized, receiving a cash prize of ₹40,000, a gold medal weighing 4 grams, a Thamirapattiram, and a certificate of appreciation. Applications for this prestigious award can be submitted through the Poompucar Sales and Manufacturing Plant managers.

Eligibility Criteria

• The applicant group must be based in Tamil Nadu.
• The group should consist of more than two artisans as members.
• The handicrafts submitted must be manufactured by the Tamil Nadu-based group.
• The craft item for the award must be a collective production by the team.

Application Process

How to Apply Offline

Advertisements regarding the application process are published annually in June. The following steps outline the application procedure:

1. Interested applicants must print the prescribed application form format.
2. Complete the application form by filling in all required fields, affixing a passport-sized photograph (signed if necessary), and attaching self-attested copies of all mandatory documents.
3. Submit the filled and signed application form along with the required documents during office hours, exclusively to the Head Office via Poompucar Sales and Manufacturing Plant Managers.
4. Upon submission, request a receipt or acknowledgment from the relevant authority. Ensure that this receipt includes vital information such as the submission date and time, along with a unique identification number, if applicable.

Note: Each member of the group must separately indicate their name and role in the production within the application.
