Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for registration under the Uttarakhand Tourism and Travel Business Registration Rules, the following types of units are eligible:
- Residential Units: Hotels, motels, resorts, guest houses, dharamshalas, ashrams, etc.
- Travel Trade-related Units: Travel agents, domestic tour operators, excursion agents.
- Catering-related Units: Restaurants, beer bars, fast food centres, food plazas, food courts, etc.
- Entertainment-related Units: Amusement/theme parks, golf courses, ropeways, sound and light shows, angling units, etc.
- Adventure Tourism-related Units: Adventure tour operators, kayaking, canoeing, water sports, river rafting, wall climbing, mountaineering, rock climbing, paragliding, etc.
- Other Units: Handicraft/souvenir shops, yoga and meditation centres/sadhana kutirs, tourist information centres, and nature/adventure/wildlife photography units, etc.
Application Process
The registration process for tourism-related units is straightforward and can be completed online. Here are the steps to follow:
- Visit the official website of the Uttarakhand Tourism Department at https://uttarakhandtourism.gov.in.
- Navigate to the section labeled Trade and select Travel Trade Registration.
- Ensure you have an Aadhaar number along with a mobile number linked to it, as these are required for registration.
- Fill out the online application form, providing all necessary details about your company.
- Prepare and submit the following documents:
- Applicant’s PAN card
- Unit’s PAN card
- GST registration certificate
- Recent photograph of the unit
- Balance sheet (if applicable for existing units)
- ₹10 affidavit
- Copy of land ownership document
- List of employees
- Hotel tariff rates (if applicable)
- Registration fee of ₹1,000
- Fire NOC
- Pollution Control Board NOC
- FSSAI food license (for catering units)
- Once the application is submitted, the District Tourism Development Officer (DTDO) will conduct an inspection of the unit.
- Upon successful verification, a registration number will be issued, allowing the unit to operate legally within the state.

Application Process
Apply OnlineTo register a unit, applicants must complete the online registration on the Tourism Department’s website at https://uttarakhandtourism.gov.in

An Aadhaar number and an Aadhaar-linked mobile number are mandatory. During the registration process, applicants are required to submit the company registration details mentioned in the application form, the applicant’s PAN card, the unit’s PAN card, GST registration certificate, a recent photograph of the unit, a balance sheet (in the case of an existing unit), a ₹10 affidavit, a copy of the land ownership document, a list of employees, hotel tariff rates (if applicable), the registration fee of ₹1,000, Fire NOC, Pollution Control Board NOC, and an FSSAI food license (for catering units).
After submission, the District Tourism Development Officer (DTDO) of the respective district conducts an inspection. Upon successful verification, the applicant is issued a registration number, after which the unit is authorized to operate legally.
