One Time Grant for Media Personality in Assam

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant should be a permanent resident of Assam.
  • The individual must be an accredited or recognized journalist within Assam.
  • The scheme is available to all mainstream media journalists possessing accredited/recognized cards from the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Assam, including freelancers from print, electronic, and news agencies.
  • Applicants should be at least 40 years old, with no upper age limit.
  • A minimum of fifteen years of experience in journalism is required.
  • The applicant must not have any criminal convictions or have faced punishment from any court or reprimand by the Press Council of India for ethical violations.
  • The annual income of the applicant should be less than ₹5,00,000.

Important Note: Applicants found to be canvassing for the grant in any form will be disqualified. Any individual discovered engaging in such practices will be barred from future consideration.

Exclusions from Eligibility

Certain categories of individuals are ineligible for the grant:

  • Employees, whether permanent, temporary, or contractual, of any government, semi-government, autonomous body, board, corporation, or council.
  • Individuals affiliated with any political party will be disqualified.
  • Once selected for this financial assistance, a journalist cannot apply again.
  • Those who receive a journalist pension are not eligible to apply.

Application Process

Applicants can apply offline by following these steps:

  1. Complete all mandatory fields in the prescribed application form and attach the required self-attested documents.
  2. Each applicant must submit three sets of the duly filled application forms (Schedule-I). The application envelope should be clearly marked as ‘Application for One Time Grant for Media Personality.’
  3. Ensure that the application reaches the Office of the Directorate of Information & Public Relations, Last Gate, Dispur, Guwahati-781006, by the specified deadline, which will be announced through advertisements.

Note 1: Applications that are incomplete or lack the necessary components as outlined in the application guidelines will not be considered.

Eligibility Criteria

NOTE: Canvasing for the grant in any form will disqualify the candidature. Anybody found canvassing in his/her favor shall be debarred from consideration for a grant.
