Post Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities (पीएमएसडी)

The Government of India has launched a dedicated scholarship initiative for students with disabilities pursuing post-matric education. This program, overseen by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DoEPwD), aims to support students from Class 11 through postgraduate levels enrolled in recognized institutions, including those accredited by UGC and AICTE. The scholarship seeks to mitigate the challenges faced by these students, thereby facilitating their academic pursuits and fostering social inclusion.

Scheme Overview

The Post Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities (पीएमएसडी) represents a pivotal move towards enabling access to higher education and vocational training for individuals with disabilities. This program accommodates students engaged in a variety of educational pathways, including Class 11, Class 12, polytechnic courses, post-matriculation diplomas, and undergraduate as well as postgraduate programs across the nation.

To qualify for this scholarship, candidates must have a disability as defined by the “Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016,” which includes visual, hearing, speech, locomotor, and intellectual disabilities, among others. This initiative is vital in dismantling the obstacles—whether they are physical, economic, or psychological—that hinder students with disabilities from achieving their educational and career aspirations.
